India were bowled out for their lowest-ever Test total at home as they were all out for just 46 runs against New Zealand in Bengaluru
India were bowled for a paltry 46 in their first innings against New Zealand on Thursday (October 17), the second day of their first Test at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
This is India’s lowest Test total at home. And, it is also the lowest team total in Tests in India by any team. Overall, this was India’s third-lowest in the longer format of the game.

After the entire first day’s play was washed out due to rain, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in overcast conditions. New Zealand seamers bowled superbly in conducive conditions to skittle out India for 46 in 31.2 overs.
Five Indian batters – Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin were dismissed for ducks. Rishabh Pant, who enjoyed a reprieve, top-scored with 20. The next best was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 13.
New Zealand used only three pacemen – Tim Southee, Matt Henry and William ORourke. Henry was outstanding with 5/15 in 13.2 overs while ORourke took 4/22 in 12 overs while Southee had 1/8 in 6 overs.
