The Madhya Pradesh government is considering reimposing night curfew in Bhopal and Indore in view of the rising coronavirus cases in the two districts.
At a review meeting on Friday to discuss the situation in the state, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: “Look at the rise in cases… Tough measures will be taken to flatten the curve. Night curfew might be clamped in Bhopal and Indore from Sunday or Monday.”
Chouhan said people coming to MP from neighbouring Maharashtra, which is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases, should undergo thermal scans. He also instructed officials to ensure pandemic guidelines are followed in the state.
In the meeting, it was also decided that convention halls in Bhopal and Indore will be allowed to function at 50 per cent capacity, while social and religious functions will be banned, News18 reported. Screening in border cities of Khandwa, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Barwani, Khandwa, Dhar and Seoni will be heightened, according to the channel.

The CM also instructed the government to prepare fresh standard operating procedures to be followed.
He advised people to take up protective measures and wear masks. Chouhan also said further awareness campaigns will be launched in the state.

On Friday, Madhya Pradesh reported 603 cases of Covid-19, taking the tally up to 2,67,176, PTI reported. The toll went up to 3,883, with two more deaths.
Indore has so far reported 940 deaths and Bhopal 621. There are 1,528 active cases in Indore, while the state capital has 806.
