Modi makes courtesy call to Charles, discusses yoga, Ayurveda

In an evident gesture of solidarity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (April 2) made a telephone call to Charles, the Prince of Wales and the future monarch to the British throne, to discuss the coronavirus situation.

Charles, 71, is one of the global celebrities who have tested positive for coronavirus. After being diagnosed with the disease in March, he along with his wife was kept in self-isolation. He came out of isolation last week.

According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office, during the telephonic conversation, Modi expressing satisfaction on the recovery of Charles, wished him good health.

He also expressed his condolence over the coronavirus deaths in UK. United Kingdom whose death toll is approaching the 3,000-mark reported as many as 569 deaths in 24 hours (as per reports on April 2).

The prince in return appreciated the work of the Indian diaspora in the UK including members of the National Health Service and religious and social organizations of the Indian community in the UK in fighting the pandemic.

He also thanked Modi for helping British citizens who were stranded in Indian during the crisis.

The two leaders also spoke about the efficacy of Yoga and Ayurveda and Charles’ keen interest in the latter. Modi told him how the Indian government is teaching yoga exercises through short animated videos and home-made traditional remedies to boost immunity.
