India's COVID recovery rate increases to 51%, death toll at 9,520
Days after India crossed the 3 lakh mark in the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, the country’s recovery rate has increased to 51 per cent, the data released on Monday (June 15) by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revealed.
According to the data, as many as 3,32,424 patients had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country. Out of these, 1,69,797 people have been cured or discharged from hospitals, while one person had migrated to another country. India currently has 1,53,106 active cases and has witnessed 9,520 deaths.

Currently, India stands fourth in the list of countries with the maximum number of COVID-19 cases, following the USA, Brazil and Russia. However, the country has 242 cases per million population, much lower than the top three countries which have 6,534, 4,084 and 3,681 cases per million population. So far, India has conducted 5,774,133 tests.
Among the top five Indian states, Gujarat has the highest recovery rate of 69.24 per cent, while Delhi has the lowest recovery rate of 38.42 per cent. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have the recovery rates of 47.22, 54.96 and 60.73 per cent respectively.
