The country, which is the ninth worst COVID-hit country in the world, has been confirming positive cases in large numbers over the past three days.

This comes amid the decision by the Centre to extend the lockdown until June 30 and resume activities in a phased manner under “Unlock 1”. This phase includes a few more relaxations in the lockdown, with malls, hotels, restaurants, and places of worship being permitted to open on June 8, except in containment zones.

The night curfew will remain, but the timings have been changed from 7 pm-7 am to 9 pm-5 am.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases across the globe have crossed the 6 million-mark.
