Another potential hotspot of the novel coronavirus has reportedly been found in the national capital, and experts suggest limited community transmission of the infection has already started in the area.

Four areas within a 4-km radius in northeast Delhi’s Dilshad Garden is under the focus of the health authorities, from where several coronavirus cases have already been reported, according to Hindustan Times.

However, sources of infection in many of these cases remain unclear, and this led the experts to suggest a possibility of limited community spread in the area.

Ease of these four areas have at least one focal patient, who might have infected others, and the four places been declared as containment areas, the report said. This includes two separate blocks of GTB Enclave and another in Dilshad Colony.

One of the blocks in GTB Enclave is linked to a nurse working at Delhi State Cancer Institute while the other block is linked to an elderly man, the report said quoting a senior government official. The official, however, had no idea where the man contracted the infection from.

The nurse and nine of her colleagues had tested positive for COVID-19 at the cancer institute on Monday.

In the containment area in Dilshad Colony, a middle-aged man has emerged as the focal patient who has tested positive for the infection. The man has unclear no foreign travel history and no contacts could be established with any infected person, the report said.

In the fourth case, the focal patient is a 38-year-old woman who had returned from Saudi Arabia last month. Reports suggest she had passed on the infection to at least 11 people, including two mohalla clinic doctors practising in Dilshad Garden. A total of six people in Dilshad Garden have contracted it from her.
