Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday (November 9) criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "Ek hai toh safe hai" (We are safe if we are united) slogan, saying Maharashtra is already a safe state.

Raut accused Modi of causing instability whenever he visited the state, alleging that the prime minister’s visits are marked by attempts to create divisions and provoke unrest.

“I don’t understand why Modi is using such language,” the prominent Sena leader said.

“After the earlier slogan ‘Batenge toh katenge’ failed, he has now introduced this new one. People are already safe in Maharashtra,” he said.

“But whenever Modi visits, the state becomes unsafe as he instigates divisions and provokes unrest. To truly ensure safety, we need to remove the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).”

Modi targets Congress

Raut’s comments came a day after Modi accused the Congress and its allies of pitting one caste against another and asked people to stay united, saying "Ek hai, toh safe hai.”

“The sole agenda of the Congress party is to make one caste fight against another. They do not want SCs, STs and OBCs to progress and get their due recognition. Remember, ‘Ek hai toh safe hai’ (We are safe if we are united),” Modi said at Dhule.

It was his first rally in Maharashtra for the November 20 Assembly elections.

Modi also remarked that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP), was a vehicle without wheels or brakes but were fighting to sit in the driver's seat.
