Former chief ministers Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray as well as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will unleash the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) campaign for Assembly elections in Maharashtra on November 6.

Pawar, who heads the Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar NCP (SP), made the announcement at a media interaction at Baramati in Pune district on Thursday (October 31).

Pawar said he, Shiv Sena leader Thackery and Rahul will spearhead the campaign.

Friendly fights

Asked about the “friendly fights” among the NCP, Congress and Sena candidates in some constituencies, Pawar said there were only 10-12 such seats.

“I am confident we will find a solution in the next couple of days and resolve the issue,” he said.

Pawar said the Congress-NCP (SP)-Sena (UBT) alliance will offer a common minimum programme to the people of the state to earn their support.

Common programme

Congress leader Nana Patole said on Wednesday that the alliance would hold a joint rally on November 6 in Mumbai where it will release the opposition grouping’s guarantees for the Assembly elections.

The Congress is contesting 103 seats followed by the Thackeray's Sena (UBT) (89) and the NCP (87). Their allies are in the fray in six seats.

Maharashtra will see Assembly elections to pick a 288-member House on November 20. The votes will be counted on November 23.
