Bengaluru horror | Victim’s husband suspects lover’s involvement
Hemant Das, the husband of the victim, said he had filed a complaint at a Bengaluru police station several months ago against her alleged lover
The husband of Mahalakshmi, whose dead body was found cut up into pieces in the refrigerator in her Bengaluru apartment last week, has claimed that she had a lover who was from Uttarakhand who he suspected was involved in her murder.
Hemant Das, the husband of the victim, said he had filed a complaint at a Bengaluru police station several months ago against her alleged lover, according to a report in India Today.
Prime suspect identified: Police
On Monday (September 23), Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said at a press conference that the police had identified the main suspect in the murder.
“It is being investigated from all angles. The prime suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to arrest him,” he told reporters.
“He’s an outsider. We can’t give more information as of now as it may help the accused,” the police commissioner added.
Victim had accused husband of assault
An officer from the Nelamangala police station said the victim, Mahalakshmi, had filed a complaint in February this year against her husband Hemant Das alleging that he had assaulted her.
It was reported that the family members of the estranged couple tried to heal the rift between them.
Separated for 9 months
Hemant Das said he had discovered that his wife was having an extra-marital affair in April / May last year, and that they had been living apart from each other for the past 9 months. When they separated, her lover was told not to meet her. But he was not sure if her lover kept meeting her.
Hemant and Mahalakshmi were married for 6 years, and have a daughter.
He said their daughter lived with the mother for 4 months after they separated, and then stayed with him in Nelamangala. He said Mahalakshmi came to his house about a month ago and spent time with their daughter. He said she was calm but did not share much about what was going on in her life.
The husband said he did not hear from Mahalakshmi since September 4.
Mahalakshmi worked in a mall and stayed in Malleswaram, while Hemant Das worked in a hermitage outside the city and stayed in Nelamangala.
