'Signal overshooting may have caused accident'

Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police M Deepika said on Monday (October 30) said the number of casualties in the train accident has gone up to 13 while 50 people have been injured.

At around 7 pm on Sunday, the Palasa passenger train hit the Rayagada passenger train from behind at Kantakapalli, about 40 Km from Visakhapatnam, causing three coaches to derail.

Biswajit Sahu, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the ECR, on Monday told the media “signal overshooting is the most probable cause behind the mishap.” He, however, said that the same will be ascertained only after investigation.
