Three private hotels in the Tirupati temple area in Andhra Pradesh received bomb threats but a thorough search of their premises proved it was a hoax.

Hotels Leela Mahal, Kapila Theertham and Alipiri got the threats over email on Thursday (October 24) evening, linking Pakistan’s intelligence agency to improvised IEDs apparently planed on the premises.

This led to the police and sniffer dogs searching the three hotels, which are located not far from the revered Tiriupati temple. At the end of the operation, no bomb was found.

DMK link to threats?

The anonymous emails sought to connect the threats to the arrest in Tamil Nadu of Jaffer Sidiq, a DMK functionary, for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The emails added that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was linked to the case.
