Para Asian Games: Indians clinch 35 medals, including 10 gold
India para-athletes did well at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday, securing a total of 35 medals, including an impressive 10 gold medals
India picked up a whopping 35 medals, including 10 gold at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday (October 24).
Deepthi Jeevanji secured India's eighth gold medal in the women's 400m-T20 event, setting a new Asian Para record and Games record with a timing of 56.69s. She outperformed Thailand's Orawan Kaising, who achieved a personal best time of 59.00s and won the silver medal. In the men's 400m-T64 final, Ajay Kumar earned a silver medal with a personal best timing of 54.85s.
Sharath Makanahalli Shankarappa contributed to India's gold medal tally by winning gold in the Men’s 5000m-T13 category, bringing the total to nine gold medals. Additionally, in the men’s discus throw-F54/55/56 event, India's Neeraj Yadav, Yogesh Kathuniya, and Muthuraja dominated the podium, securing 10 gold medals for the country.
Earlier in the day, Manish Kaurav clinched a bronze medal in the Canoe Men’s KL3 Final event, while Prachi Yadav won gold in the Canoe Women’s KL2 event after previously securing a silver medal in the women’s VL2 final.
