Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has chosen to respond to Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan dig at him over the former’s controversial remark on Sanatana Dharma last year with a phrase and a smile.

“Let’s wait and see…let’s wait and see,” Udhayanidhi said replying to Kalyan’s warning on Thursday that whoever tries to wipe out Sanatana Dharma will be wiped out himself.

"Don't say that Sanatana Dharma is like a virus, and it will destroy. Whoever said this let me tell you sir. You cannot wipe out Sanatana Dharma. If anyone tries to wipe out Santana Dharma let me tell you from the feet of Lord Balaji you will be wiped out," Kalyan said.

He was referring to Udhayanidhi’s controversial remark last year in which he had likened Sanatana Dharma to malaria, dengue and coronavirus while asserting that such a thing should be destroyed. The comment had sparked a massive political row ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

‘Need law to safeguard Sanatana Dharma’

Kalyan on Thursday had also stressed the need to bring in legislation at the national level to protect Sanatana Dharma and establish Sanatana Dharma protection boards with adequate funds at national and state levels.
