PM Modi to embark on mega poll drive, hold 8 rallies in four poll-bound states

Modi will visit Telangana's Mahabubnagar district on Oct 1 and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth over ₹13,500 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to embark on a mega election campaign in four poll-bound states - Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh - beginning on Saturday (September 30).

The prime minister will hold as many as eight rallies in seven days between September 30 and October 6. He is also scheduled to launch several projects and public welfare schemes. Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram are slated to be held later this year.

Chhattisgarh

Modi will visit Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh to attend the concluding ceremony of two ‘Parivartan Yatras’ of the BJP. He will also address the ‘Parivartan Mahasankalp’ rally at the Science College ground around 2 pm, state BJP chief Arun Sao told the media. He will return to the state on October 3 for public meetings in Jagdalpur and Bastar.

Of Chhattisgarh’s five administrative divisions – Raipur, Durg, Surguja, Bilaspur and Bastar – Bilaspur has the highest number of assembly seats at 24. PM Modi’s visit comes close on the heels of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting in Bilaspur, where he attacked the prime minister, saying while the Congress uses its “remote control” to extend benefits to the poor, he used his to “help Adani”.

Telangana

Modi will visit Telangana's Mahabubnagar district on Sunday (October 1). He will lay the foundation stone of multiple developmental projects worth more than ₹13,500 crore. As per a government release, the projects are related to important sectors like road, rail, petroleum and natural gas, and higher education. The PM will also flag off a train service through video conferencing.

He will also inaugurate five new buildings of the University of Hyderabad - the School of Economics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Management Studies, Lecture Hall Complex – III, and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication (Annexe). He will return to the state on October 3 for public meetings in Nizamabad district.

Madhya Pradesh

Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on Monday (October 2) for a day where he is expected to hold two public meetings in Gwalior. He will travel to Jabalpur on October 5 for a public gathering. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “PM Modi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh is a matter of happiness for the people of the state. He is coming to Gwalior and Jabalpur. I welcome him.”

Rajasthan

The prime minister will be in the Congress-ruled Rajasthan on Monday (October 2) and will address a public meeting at Sanwaliyaji in Chittorgarh district to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The PM will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects in the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency. Later, he will return to the state on October 6 to visit Jodhpur, a region considered a stronghold of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
