In a significant shift in its work policy post COVID, IT company Infosys is all set to introduce hybrid work model and has asked entry and mid-level employees to attend office at least 10 days a month, a report said.

According to Economic Times which has access to a communication by the company, the vice president has asked employees, especially in the job tiers of five and six to show up for work in office at least 10 days a month, from November 20 onwards. Mid-level managers, project leaders and entry-level staff fall under the said tiers.

The announcement is part of the company’s ‘Return to Office’ approach and bid to get familiarised with the hybrid work model.

The email also says that all employees will be required to work from office during “In Person Collaboration” weeks.

Software companies like Wipro, TCS, Capgemini, LTIMindtree have already asked their employees to embrace a hybrid work schedule.

According to ET, in email, the company’s vice president lays stress on physical proximity and face-to-face collaboration and why they are vital for effective teamwork and employee wellbeing.

Considering that it is the second-largest IT company in India, Infosys’ decision could have a greater bearing on the work culture in the IT sector and encourage several other tech companies to end work from home for their employees.

The announcement comes at a time when the IT industry is looking at a lowest growth year ever, and has been witnessing a major drop in headcount.
