Veteran Tamil actor Delhi Ganesh passed away in Chennai on Saturday (November 9) night after battling old age-related health issues for long. He was 80.
Media reports say his last rites will be held on Sunday.
Delhi Ganesh was born as Ganesan on August 1, 1944. He served in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974 before venturing into films in 1976.
He made his cinematic debut that year with K Balachander’s film Pattina Pravesam. It was Balachander who gave him the stage/screen name of Delhi Ganesh. He never looked back.

Over 400 films
Since then, he appeared in more than 400 films in three languages — Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
His memorable roles include those in Nayakan (1987), Michael Madhana Kama Rajan (1990), Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989), Aahaa..! (1997), Thenali (2000), and Engamma Maharani (1981).
He was known as a versatile actor who portrayed a wide range of characters in his films, including both negative and positive ones. He worked with top-notch stars, including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Vijayakanth.
He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize in 1979 for his performance in Pasi and the Kalaimamani Award in 1994.
