Maharashtra polls: BJP releases second list of 22 candidates

Party replaces sitting MLAs of Washim and Gadchiroli while retaining those of Akot, Nashik Central, Pen, Khadakwasala, Pune Cantonment, and Ulhasnagar

The BJP has retained six sitting MLAs and dropped two in its second list of 22 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

The saffron party, a member of the ruling Mahayuti coalition along with the Shiv Sena and the NCP, has declared candidates for 121 of the 288 constituencies so far.

In the second list released on Saturday (October 26), the party replaced the sitting MLAs of Washim and Gadchiroli while retaining those of Akot, Nashik Central, Pen, Khadakwasala, Pune Cantonment, and Ulhasnagar.

The second list also features two members of the legislative council. Gopichand Padalkar has been fielded from Jat, and Ramesh Karad from Latur Rural, where he will take on the Congress’s Dhiraj Deshmukh.

Elections to the 288-member Assembly will take place on November 20.
