The victory of BJP candidate Madhavi Latha in the Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad will prevent the city from “turning into Pakistan”, BJP leader Navneet Rana has said.

Rana told the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday: “The manner in which Madhavi Latha is contesting like a lioness, on a family bastion seat, and even the Congress is fielding a dummy candidate to support AIMIM, I feel (that) (Asaduddin) Owaisi should contest from somewhere else.”

“The kind of support Madhavi Latha is getting from people who are with India – all of them will vote for her this time…Madhavi will definitely stop Hyderabad from turning into Pakistan and work for the development of Hyderabad,” she said.

Madhavi has also kept a continuous attack on both the AIMIM and the Congress, which has also fielded a candidate in Hyderabad. “If you vote for AIMIM and Congress, it goes directly to Pakistan,” she said in a speech.

“Just like the Congress regime governed the country on the signals of Pakistan, the same Pakistan is today saying that they love (the) Congress and AIMIM,” she said.

Madhavi Latha is pitted outgoing MP and AIAMIM Chief Asauddin Owaisi, whose party also holds 7 out of 8 assembly seats in Hyderabad.

Voting for all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana will take place on May 13 in the fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Owaisi has been a four-term MP from Hyderabad, winning the constituency consecutively since 2004.
