The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are in the last stages of finalising seat-sharing for the Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.

While a formal statement is yet to be issued, reports quoting sources from both parties said they have arrived at a four-three seat arrangement with AAP supposed to contest in four seats and the Congress in three. The decision following days of deliberations on the matter.

“Yes, the seat-sharing agreement for Delhi has been reached between two parties; we will disclose which seat will be contested by a candidate from which party shortly,” Indian Express quoted a senior AAP leader as saying on Thursday (February 22).

News agency PTI reported, quoting sources, that the AAP will field candidates from the South Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi and New Delhi seats, while the Congress will contest from the Chandni Chowk, East Delhi and North East Delhi constituencies.

Both parties are yet to announce the candidates for the said seats.

All the seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital are currently held by the BJP.

The Congress by tying up with the AAP will attempt to wrest the East and North West Lok Sabha seats to its fold.

AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the talks over the alliance were delayed and hinted at fresh developments in the next one or two days.

The Lok Sabha polls are likely to be held in April-May.
