The BJP may win all the Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, but the margin of victory may be reduced significantly compared to the last election, an election review meeting of the party has reportedly revealed.

Elections to the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka got over in two phases, with the second phase done on May 7. Following that, the state BJP held the election review meeting. In 2019, the saffron party had won 25 seats, while the Congress and JD(S) had got one each. One seat had gone to an Independent candidate.

BJP review meeting

In many Lok Sabha constituencies of the state, the party’s election officials have reported that the margin of victory of the party’s candidates is likely to drop significantly this time compared to the 2019 election, while the Congress is likely to get more votes this time.

The in-charges submitted the reports of all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in a review meeting held in Bengaluru on Saturday under the leadership of BJP state unit president BY Vijayendra. BJP candidates from many constituencies were also present in the review meeting.

Understanding between allies

After the meeting, BJP state unit General Secretary V Sunil Kumar said, “The BJP-JDS alliance is confident of winning all the seats. However, the margin of victory may be reduced in some places.”

He added that the understanding between BJP and ally JD(S) was good, and BJP workers fully cooperated in the three constituencies contested by JD(S) candidates. In other constituencies, JD(S) workers similarly supported BJP candidates, Sunil Kumar said.

Hundreds of meetings, roadshows

He claimed that the Congress government in the state has “misused” the administrative machinery in the elections, with BJP and JD(S) activists being threatened, lawsuits filed against them, and other atrocities being committed against them. However, the BJP-JD(S) alliance will have a big success in the polls, Sunil Kumar expressed confidence.

The BJP has conducted election campaigns very systematically in the state, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and 14 national-level leaders have held 79 meetings and 39 roadshows. Sunil Kumar added that 30 prominent leaders of the state had held 557 meetings and 139 roadshows as well.
