The video conferencing application Google Meet is now bringing many interesting features to take over its rival Zoom. Google Meet users will now be able to access features such as blurred backgrounds or changing it by uploading their own. In a blog post by the tech giant, Google revealed that the features will be available soon.

Google stated that in the coming months, users will be able to blur out the background, or replace it with an image of one’s own, so that they can maintain the team’s focus.

Many other features are also being introduced as thousands of people across the world are relying on these applications to communicate. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, lectures, classes, webinars, and meetings are being conducted online. Hence, the video-conferencing applications are being worked on and new features are being brought to make the experience much more seamless.

Google has also improved its layout which will enable it to display 16 people at once. It is planning to add more improvements, including letting users see up to 49 participants at once. As far as the group calls are concerned, currently, Google Meet can support a group call of 250 participants.

Some other features by Google Meet, proposed to be included are hand raising, polling, meeting attendance, additional monitoring controls, Q&A, and breakout rooms. According to its blog, it will help enhance the sessions that are being taken.

Hand raising enables participants to ‘raise their hands’ if they have any question or would like to say something. Polling, meeting attendance, Q&A will help perform these functions easily. Google also plans to give the host some monitoring controls to mute or present and perform other tasks.
