Airbnb has permanently banned parties at listed sites after it announced a temporary ban in August 2020.

The company said that historically it allowed the hosts to use their best judgement and authorize parties if it’s appropriate for their homes and neighbourhood.

The company said it observed a direct correlation between the implementation of the policy in August 2020 and a 44 per cent year-over-year drop in the rate of party reports.

The new policy will prohibit disruptive parties and events, including open-invite gatherings. Also, the temporary party ban policy announced in 2020 that restricted the occupancy cap to 16 would now be removed. According to the company, the limit was introduced to restrict mass social gathering during the pandemic.
