Hours after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Union Budget 2020-21 in the Parliament on Saturday (February 1), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said step-motherly has again been meted out to the national capital, which is set to go for polls on February 8.

In a Twitter post, the chief minister expressed his disappointment over the Union Budget, asking, “When Delhi doesn’t figure in the BJP’s priorities, why should people vote for it?” “Delhi had high expectations from the budget, but step-motherly treatment has been meted out to it again,” he tweeted in Hindi.
The AAP national convenor also asked that if the BJP was disappointing Delhi before the assembly elections, “Will it fulfil its promises after the polls?” Delhi goes to polls on February 8 and the assembly election results will be announced on February 11.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh echoed similar views on the budget. Terming the finance minister’s 2.5-hour long budget speech as “boring” and the budget as “disappointing”, he said the government has not announced anything for Delhi.
On the government’s plan of partial disinvestment of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), he said, “Customers were cheated in the PMC scam. Now, by selling LIC, the BJP has said it is neither supporting the customers during the lifetime nor after their death.”
