Three journalists test positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai, quarantined

After three Times Group journalists in Mumbai tested positive for coronavirus and reported their results to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Friday night, they were moved to the civic isolation facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 positive persons at Powai.


After three Times Group journalists in Mumbai tested positive for coronavirus and reported their results to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Friday night, they were moved to the civic isolation facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 positive persons at Powai.

The three stay used to stay with other journalists at a hotel in Bandra and commute to work in South Mumbai everyday.

Of the group, 37 people have now been quarantines at the Bandra hotel itself after they tested negative.

Vinayak Vispute, BMC’s assistant commissioner of the H West ward told Hindustan Times, “The media house these three journalists are employees of called me on Friday night and informed about three COVID-19 positive cases. The tests were done privately by the media house, so the three persons are not tested and recorded by BMC. However, as a precautionary measure, they have been immediately moved to the asymptomatic positive persons to an isolation facility. Their tests will be conducted by BMC.”

He added that the media house has also arranged for quarantining the remaining teammates at their own expense and assured BMC that these people will be strictly quarantined in their rooms.

The journalists were not reporters and used to work on the desk.

At 1,895, Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country.
