Several rivers were flowing above the danger mark as heavy rains pounded the state over the last few days and more was predicted by the weatherman.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and disaster force has been carrying out rescue operations wherever required.
At least 3,250 people were evacuated from Chhotaudaipur, Navsari and Valsad.

Some low-lying areas of Valsad were inundated after the Orsang river’s water levels rose. Kaveri and Ambika rivers were also flowing above the danger mark in Navsari district
Ahmedabad too witnessed heavy rainfall leading to floods in low lying areas. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in view of the heavy rains.

The average rainfall recorded in the city was 114.3 mm in the last 3 hours.
Waterlogging was reported in Paldi, Bodakdev, Usmanpura, and Jodhpur. Five underpasses have been closed.
A part of a bridge collapsed due to incessant heavy rainfall in Chhota Udaipur on Sunday. A bridge on the road connecting Panchol and Kumbhiya villages in Tapi district was washed away. A road in Ahmedabad also caved in.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy showers in the next five days in south Gujarat’s districts of Dang, Navsari and Valsad. Several other districts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period.
An advisory has been issued to fishermen not to venture into the sea.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to take stock of the situation. Patel informed him about the situation and the measures taken by the Gujarat government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the Chief Minister of all necessary help, including NDRF, the Gujarat CM PRO said.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has asked all district collectors to be ready for the evacuation of more people.
