Ahmedabad COVID-19 hospital fire leaves 8 patients dead
Eight patients in the ICU ward of a private hospital designated for treating COVID-19, died after fire broke out there on Thursday (Aug 6).
Fire broke out at the Shrey Hospital in Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad during the early hours of Thursday.
Even as the rescue operations were being carried out by firemen, images of distressed family members of the patients stuck inside, inquiring about them, emerged.

Around 40 other COVID-19 patients at the facility were rescued and shifted to a civic hospital in the city. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has ordered a probe into the incident and asked for a report within three days. The probe will be led by Additional Chief Secretary (Home Department) Sangeeta Singh, reported news agency ANI.
