Modi slams Telangana CM; says ‘one family using all tactics to rule’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an event in Hyderabad, took potshots at Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, saying dynastic parties are denying the youth of the country their right in politics.

It may be noted that Chandrashekhar Rao’s son KT Rama Rao is a legislator from Sircilla and is the cabinet minister for IT, Municipal Administration and Urban Development. KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha served as MP from Nizamabad and is currently a Member of the Legislative Council. KCR’s nephew, Harish Rao, is an MLA for Siddipet and Telangana’s cabinet minister for finance.

“Telangana did not become an independent state so that one family can rule using all possible tactics. Pariwarwaadi (dynastic) parties are selfish. They only think of their own progress and do not work for the poor. All their energies are diverted towards staying in power and taking away people’s hard-earned money,” Modi said while addressing BJP party workers.

Modi said it is a fact that corruption becomes the face of political outfits that are inclined towards one family. The PM said BJP workers are on the radar of the ruling dispensation which is targeting them to stop them from asking questions on behalf of the people of Telangana.

Modi said that the BJP is keen on developing Telangana into a technology centre, but family-ruled parties are simply playing appeasement politics while filling their coffers, he said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi attended an event at Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday morning left for Bengaluru, just hours ahead of the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

This is the second time in the last four months that KCR has avoided meeting Modi during the latter’s visit to Hyderabad.

Earlier in February, PM was here to unveil the Statue of Equality, a giant statue of Saint Ramanujacharya, near here. Official sources then said Rao could not receive the PM as he was ‘unwell’.

Rao is scheduled to meet former Prime Minister and JDS Supremo HD Deve Gowda in the Karnataka capital and expected to discuss national politics.

Recently, KCR, as he is popularly known, undertook a tour to attend national-level political and social programmes. As part of that he had called on Delhi and Punjab Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann respectively.
