Seeman stirs up a hornet's nest by glorifying Rajiv Gandhi killers
Tamil Nationalist politician Seeman stirred up controversy by praising the killers of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi during a by-election campaign in Tamil Nadu.
During the public meeting at the Vikravandi constituency of Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu, Seeman termed Rajiv Gandhi the enemy of Tamil people.
“History will be rewritten to assert that Rajiv Gandhi, who killed thousands of Tamils (in Sri Lanka) by sending the Indian Peace Keeping Force, was killed in the Tamil land” Seeman said at the public meeting.
Soon after the video of his stage speech went viral, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) slammed Seeman for his inflammatory speech. TNCC chief KS Alagiri demanded the de-registration of Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK). He also claimed that Seeman’s speech amounted to sedition charge as he supported the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) – a banned organisation.

Alagiri also claimed that it was not former the Prime Minister but the LTTE supremo Prabhakaran who killed Tamils in the island nation.
Meanwhile, on Monday, based on a complaint from a congress functionary, Villupuram police registered a case against Seeman for allegedly delivering a provocative speech with an intent to cause riot.
When asked about the case being registered against him, Seeman said that he will not withdraw his statements even if more cases are slapped against him. “I have faced a number of similar cases and I will face this case too,” he said.
He also asserted that LTTE leader Prabhakaran was his leader.
