Rajinikanth backs BJP's manifesto over interlinking of rivers
A day after the BJP released its poll manifesto, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Tamil actor Rajinikanth welcomed the saffron party’s manifesto that highlighted the inter-linking of rivers.
“If rivers in the country are interlinked, many will get employment and poverty will come down,” the actor told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
He also added that there is “no change in his political stand and wouldn’t comment further, since elections are around the corner.”
Rajinikanth, who announced his political entry in December 2017, is yet to launch his party. While the actor turned politician has been consolidating his cadres through Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), he declared that he would not contest the upcoming polls.
Tamil Nadu is set to go to polls on April 18. Along with parliamentary elections, the southern state will also have bye-elections to 18 constituencies.
Earlier in the day, first look poster for Rajinikanth’s next movie Darbar directed by A R Murugadoss was released.
