The move comes after a video surfaced online showing six students chasing each other with weapons in Arumbakkam. Two of the students were injured in the clash.
According to reports, the clash was a fallout of a fight between two groups trying to prove they would be the head of a bus route — Route Thala, a titular role that is considered a privilege among students of certain colleges in Chennai.
Four of the students are on the run and two were arrested by police. The reason for the gang fight is anticipated to be over leadership.
