COVID-19: Death toll rises to 41 in AP; 54 fresh cases take number to 1,887
The growing number of coronavirus cases outside the hotspots has become a cause for concern as 54 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours, while three COVID-19 deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh on Friday (May 8).
The total number of coronavirus positive cases has reached 1,887 and the toll 41. With 62 patients discharged in the last 24 hours ending 9 am on Friday, the total number of those fully recovered increased to 842, leaving 1,004 active cases, the latest COVID-19 bulletin said.
Anantapuramu recorded 16 fresh cases, taking the district tally to 99, Visakhapatnam added 11 (total 57) and West Godavari 9 (total 68). Chittoor district added three new cases while Vizianagaram the green district that turned orange on Thursday reported one more case, taking its count to four.
The three major hotspots, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna, registered seven, one and six fresh cases, taking their respective tally to 547, 374 and 322. Kurnool district also reported two more deaths in the last 24 hours while there was one casualty in Visakhapatnam.
The COVID-19 dashboard said in all 1,56,681 tests were conducted in the state till date, of which 1,54,794 turned negative.
