A local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former village head was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Uttar Pradesh's Mahammadabad on Sunday (January 12) morning.
A local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former village head was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahammadabad on Sunday (January 12) morning.
The incident came to light after the locals heard a gunshot and rushed to the spot and found the body of Bijli Yadav, 39, lying in a pool of blood.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Yadav had gone for a morning walk and was fired at from point-blank range by bike-borne assailants who then fled the spot.
Mau’s superintendent of police Anurag Arya who visited the spot said a case has been registered under the relevant sections of IPC following a complaint by the victim’s wife. The police said that they are investigating all possible angles and assured that the culprits would be arrested soon and strict action would be taken against them.
Reacting to the news, another SP leader Karnpratap Singh said that the situation of law and order is not good in the area and that the state government has failed in controlling crime.
