The charge against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of entering a Gurudwara in a drunk state has gathered steam with the BJP taking the matter to the police.

BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga on Saturday (April 16) filed a police complaint against Mann, urging the Punjab Director-General of Police to take action against the CM.

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga twitted: “Filed Police complaint against Punjab CM @BhagwantMann for Entering Gurudwara Damdama Sahib in Drunk Condition. I request @DGPPunjabPolice @PunjabPoliceInd to take action on my complaint.”

The SGPC too sought an apology from Mann. SGPC senior vice-president of Raghujit Singh Virk said that the CM under the influence of alcohol visited a highly respected spiritual site of the Sikh community and “violated the Sikh rehat maryada (code of conduct)”. Virk said that Mann should admit his mistake and apologise to the entire Sikh community.
