Kerala lawyer shouts 'Go back Amit Shah', asked to vacate house

An advocate from Kerala and her friend have been asked to vacate the house they had rented in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar for protesting and shouting slogans against Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday.

An advocate from Kerala and her friend have been asked to vacate the house they had rented in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar for protesting and shouting slogans against Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday (January 6).

Amit Shah had taken up a door-to-door campaign in the area as part of the BJP’s outreach programme to garner support for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Amit Shah was supposed to visit three houses that were chosen in advance. MPs Vijay Goel and Meenakshi Lekhi accompanied the minister during his visit and distributed leaflets in support of the CAA.

When the home minister came out from the first house in Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi, Surya, the advocate, and her friend Harina put out a banner saying, ‘Shame Shah’ and shouted at him to ‘go back’ from the top floor of the building nearby.

The BJP workers who had come along with Shah yelled back slogans when they heard what they said. The house owner soon turned up and removed the banner.

He also allegedly asked the two to vacate the house, and security has been ramped up in the area following this episode.
