Delhi government blasts LG Saxena over girl’s murder, to help family
Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday hit out at Lt Governor VK Saxena over a girl’s brutal murder in Shahbad Dairy area, alleging that people in the capital have lost faith in the law-and-order system.
The 16-year-old girl was stabbed over 20 times and bludgeoned to death by a youth on a busy bylane as shocked passers-by looked on in northwest Delhi.
“The people of Delhi have lost faith in the law-and-order system. The police, who use force on women wrestlers and Manish Sisodia, look weak in front of these killers. There is a problem in the leadership,” Bharadwaj tweeted.

“The L-G’s priority is something else,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said in Hindi, in an oblique reference to the frequent run-ins Saxena has with the city’s AAP administration. Delhi education minister and AAP leader Atishi plans to meet the victim’s parents.
The Delhi government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s distraught family. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: “The Delhi government will provide ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the victim and will try its best to get the culprit punished severely by the court. Best lawyers will be fielded for this case.”
Kejriwal had on Monday urged Saxena to take strict action over the incident. Delhi police report to the Union Home Ministry, not the Delhi government.
