After a hiatus of more than five months, hotels, restaurants, and clubs in Delhi have finally been allowed to serve liquor from September 9, government sources in the national capital said on Thursday (September 3).
They said establishments will have to follow the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the central government while offering such services.
“Authorities have allowed hotels, restaurants, and clubs to serve liquor from September 9,” PTI quoted a Delhi government source as saying.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority had issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the operationalisation of bars in the national capital, according to news agency ANI.
The SOP states that bars in containment zones will remain closed and only asymptomatic staff and customers will be allowed entry. Not more than 50 per cent of approved seating capacity will be allowed in such establishments, according to the guidelines.
In the Unlock 4 guidelines that came into force this month, the Centre has kept bars out of the list of places and activities that remain prohibited, thereby allowing the states to take a call on letting them serve liquor on the premises.
