Car runs over kids in Patna; 3 killed, driver lynched
A 30-year-old driver was lynched by mob after the car he was driving allegedly ran over four children on the footpath in Agamakua, Patna, on Wednesday (June 26) night. The driver was detained by passersby and lynched before being handed over to the police. The state government announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹4 lakh to the each of the families of the deceased.
The three deceased were identified as, Raju Kumar (10), Halendra (9) and Rohit Kumar (13). The injured Manish Kumar (12), is undergoing treatment in the government hospital.
According to police, there were two people inside the car, including the driver, who was identified as Saurav Ganguly. They added that the SUV was damaged and that investigation was on. They also added that they are looking at the CCTV footage to check if the car was over speeding.
