Sourabh proceeds to US Open semifinals after beating HS Prannoy
Sourabh Verma defeated HS Prannoy in straight games and to enter the men’s singles semifinals of the US Open badminton tournament.
Sourabh posted a 21-19 23-21 win over Prannoy in a match that lasted 50 minutes on Friday (July 12).
Prannoy, seeded second, played for an hour to win the challenge of Korean Kwang Hee Heo and Sourabh had to toil hard for 53 minutes to get past compatriot Lakshya Sen, in the second round on Thursday (July 11).
Their respective wins meant that a slot for an Indian is assured in the last-four round.
Now, World No. 43 Sourabh will next take on Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand in the last-four stage.
