World’s top tennis player Novak Djokovic confirmed he has no plans to get the COVID-19 vaccine and that he won’t be playing the US Open unless there is a relaxation on the restrictions to enter the country or he’s granted a medical exemption.

The 35-year-old Serbian tennis player made the statement on Sunday (July 10) hours after bagging his fourth straight title at Wimbledon, with a victory over Nick Kyrgios.

Djokovic said: “I’m not vaccinated and I’m not planning to get vaccinated. So the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter United States or an exemption.”

The player said he’s on a vacation and would rest for the next couple of weeks, since the last few months had been exhausting and demanding for him.

“I will wait hopefully for some good news from USA because I would really love to go there. If that doesn’t happen, then I have to see what the schedule will look like,” Djokovic added.
