Top British athlete Mo Farah reveals true identity; says he 'feels relieved'


“The truth is I’m not who you think I am. Most people know me as Mo Farah, but it’s not my name or it’s not the reality,” revealed Mo Farah, the first British track and field athlete to win four Olympic golds, in a BBC documentary titled “The Real Mo Farah”, set to be aired on Wednesday (July 13).

Farah, 39, said he was illegally trafficked to Britain from Djibouti at the age of nine, by a woman he had never met. He was forced to work as a child servant in Britain, look after another family’s children.

Farah, whose real name is Hussein Abdi Kahin, was given the name of Mohammed Farah after being brought to Britain.

The British field athlete had previously said he came to the UK as a refugee from Somalia with his parents. Farah has now revealed that his parents have never been to the UK, his father was killed during the civil unrest in Somalia when Farah was only 4-years-old. His mother and two brothers, currently live in Somaliland, a state which is not internationally recognized.

The athlete said he had been holding the information for so long and felt relieved to finally let it out.
