In a tweet, the 46-year-old cricketer posted, “A chance encounter can be memorable! I had met a staffer at Taj Coromandel, Chennai during a Test series with whom I had a discussion about my elbow guard, after which I redesigned it. I wonder where he is now and wish to catch up with him. Hey netizens, can you help me find him?”

In the video, Tendulkar recalled the hotel staffer told him about a change in bat swing whenever he played wearing an elbow guard. “He came to my room to deliver the coffee I had ordered and politely sought permission to give me a suggestion. He said my elbow guard his affecting my bat swing. He said he was a huge fan and watched every ball I played atleast 5-7 times and gave me the suggestion,” Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar had first revealed the story about the waiter back in 2017 during the launch of his own sports equipment and sportswear range ‘Sachin by Spartan.’
“I said, yes! You are the only person in the world who figured that out. You won’t believe that I actually came back to my room from the ground and carried my elbow guard and redesigned it: the correct size, the right amount of padding, where the straps should be and all that,” says Tendulkar.
Regarded as one of the greatest batsmen ever, Tendulkar holds the record of being the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, having notched up 18,426 runs in ODIs and 15,921 runs in Test matches. Tendulkar ended his eventful career with 100 international centuries, 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs.
“If you have an open mind you can develop so many things. In Chennai it was a waiter who came up to me and said if you don’t mind and don’t get offended I want to tell you something. I said go ahead. He said my elbow guard restricts my bat swing. And he was 100% right,” he had said at the event.
