Playing his first IPL game since 2022, Karun smashed a 40-ball 89 with 12 fours and two sixes. His half-century came off just 22 balls. This is his highest IPL score, surpassing his previous best of 83 in 2016. The right-hander has been in prolific form this season in domestic cricket and he continued the same in IPL 2025.
Karun's IPL price
Karun’s last IPL game before Sunday was for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2022. He has played for four teams (DC, RR, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kings XI Punjab) in the IPL.
The 33-year-old Karun, who was signed up by DC for Rs 50 lakh during last year’s mega auction, during his 89-run knock, hit MI star bowler Jasprit Bumrah for two sixes in an over.
Impact Player Karun
When Karun was well set for his century, it took a superb delivery from left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner to end his knock. As Karun walked back to the pavilion, the fans at Arun Jaitley Stadium were on their feet applauding his innings.
Earlier, Karun came in as an Impact Player, replacing Mukesh Kumar. He batted at No. 3 after Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed off the first ball of the innings by Deepak Chahar.
