Mitchell Starc stars as DC edge RR in Super Over

RR needed nine in the last over and Starc conceded only eight to stretch the game

Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc (1/36) was the bowling hero as Delhi Capitals (DC) edged Rajasthan Royals (RR) via the Super Over in their IPL 2025 match in New Delhi on Wednesday night (April 16).

In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 off 27 balls) and Nitish Rana (51 off 28 balls) scored brisk half-centuries to lead RR's charge before a brilliant final over by Starc took the game to the super over with the visitors finishing at 188 for four in 20 overs.

RR needed nine in the last over and Starc conceded only eight to stretch the game.

Starc then bowled a tremendous Super Over, conceding just two boundaries. He was backed by two razor-sharp run-outs as RR managed only 11 runs.

KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs then kept their nerves in check slamming a four and a six respectively to take the hosts to their first win at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Porel hits 49

Earlier, the home team well served by Abhishek Porel's 37-ball 49 at the top of the order and even though Rahul consumed 32 balls for his 38, skipper Axar Patel (34 off 14 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (34 not out off 18) switched to top gear to help DC post 188/5.

Sandeep Sharma (0/33) bowled beautifully through his spell, took pace off his deliveries. However, he lost his rhythm in the final over, leaking four wides and a no-ball. Jofra Archer (2/32) was pick of the RR bowlers.

The surface at the Feroz Shah Kotla wasn’t the easiest to bat on, offering grip and turn for the spinners.
