India slump to record 125-run loss in 3rd T20I; what went wrong?
One of the major talking points from the defeat was India's team combination. Was it right to drop Sanju Samson?
India's tour of England hit a new low after the visitors suffered their biggest-ever defeat in T20 Internationals, losing by 125 runs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Tuesday (July 7). The crushing loss in the third T20I also extended India's poor run on the tour of the United Kingdom, with the team now losing four successive matches, excluding the washed-out game in Durham.
More than the margin of defeat, it was the one-sided nature of the contest that stood out. England controlled the match from start to finish, while India never looked like they were in contention.

Trailing 0-2, the defeat leaves India with little room for error in the five-match series. They can now only hope to draw the contest by winning the remaining two matches.
Team balance
One of the major talking points from the defeat was India's team combination.
The batting line-up now features three left-handed batters at the top, all playing an aggressive, high-risk approach. The lack of balance became evident once early wickets fell.
Sanju Samson was dropped. He had previously provided stability by balancing attack with consolidation when required. Samson has not been included for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour, which begins shortly after the England ODI series, indicating where he stands in India's current plans.
Contrasting innings
The contrast between England's innings and India's chase was striking.
England began cautiously, even playing out a maiden first over, before steadily building their innings and accelerating towards the end to post 201 runs.
India, in contrast, kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Eight wickets had fallen within the first 10 overs, and although the required run rate was never the primary concern, the innings ended for a paltry 76 all out in just 11.4 overs before any recovery could begin.
One positive
Despite the heavy defeat, there was one encouraging takeaway for India.
Fast bowler Prince Yadav impressed in only his second T20 International, delivering a performance that caught the attention of the team management.
Speaking after the match, head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed satisfaction with the youngster's display.
Yadav's performance offers India a bright spot as they look to rebuild confidence after the defeat.
Mental challenge
India have little time to recover from the loss.
The team returns to action in Bristol after just a day's break, where a victory is essential to keep hopes of drawing the series alive at 2-2.
However, after such a comprehensive defeat, the biggest challenge may be psychological. India must respond quickly if they are to avoid another disappointing result on the tour.
