How I told my parents that I am gay: A personal account

The month of June is celebrated as ‘Pride month’ by the LGBTQ community every year. But somehow the celebrations and rainbow parades fail to reflect the actuality on ground.

The concept of being queer is alien and unacceptable to many families in India, which are largely conservative. And it is for the very same reason that the community people fear ‘coming out’ to their families and are also pushed to extremities due to stigmatisation.

This is the story of a person who ‘came out’ to his parents recently.
