Azaan row takes away from real issue of noise pollution: Activist
The row over loudspeakers at religious places is diverting attention from the larger issue of noise pollution that’s rampant in suburban areas, according to Mumbai-based activist Sumaira Abdulali, founder of the NGO Awaaz Foundation.
She tells The Federal: “If the water is contaminated, we don’t go ahead and contaminate it more.” She further emphasises that loudspeakers at religious places do exacerbate an already-high level of noise pollution.
