Dr Gurudas Nulkar, an economist-turned ecologist, talks about GDP, our ‘flawed’ idea of development, quality of life and what the pandemic has taught us.
Dr. Nulkar says every economic policy is oriented towards improving supply and not enough attention is paid to demand management. He says we are not doing enough to combat climate change due to the way we have allowed the economy to operate.
From the ecology and climate change perspective, Dr. Nulkar says short-term economic gains always defeats long-term ecological goals.
