Rhea Chakraborty appears before ED in Sushant suicide case
Actor Rhea Chakraborty, the alleged girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput on Friday (August 7) arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Mumbai for questioning in the death of the actor, after the agency refused to reschedule the interrogation.
Rhea was summoned by the ED which is investigating a case of money laundering against her based on a FIR filed by Sushant’s father KK Singh. Singh had pointed to Rhea’s role in the suspicious transfer of at least ₹ 15 crore from Sushant’s bank account. Sushant’s father in his FIR also accused Rhea of mentally harassing his son and driving him to suicide.
Rhea had urged the ED to defer the date of the questioning as Supreme Court is hearing her petition. The apex court is hearing Rhea’s plea to transfer the FIR filed with Bihar police to Maharashtra, as the Mumbai police are already probing the case.
Sushant’s friend Siddharth Pithani and Shruti Modi, the former manager of Rhea have also been summoned by the agency.
Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra residence on June 14.
The Centre on Wednesday handed over the Bihar police case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
