Rahul accuses PM of lying about Chinese intrusion into Indian territory

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took an indirect dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (July 3) over Chinese intrusions at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), saying while Ladakhis claim that China has taken their land, the PM says otherwise and that someone was "lying".

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took an indirect dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (July 3) over Chinese intrusions at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), saying while Ladakhis claim that China has taken their land, the PM says otherwise and that someone was “lying”.

“Ladakhis say: China took our land. PM says: Nobody took our land. Obviously, someone is lying,” he wrote on Twitter.

Gandhi also shared a video of a few Ladakhis alleging that the Chinese have occupied Indian territory in Ladakh.

Gandhi further accused the prime minister of “surrendering” Indian land to China and “lying” on the border standoff issue.

The Congress leader’s dig came on the day when Modi visited Nimu in Leh to interact with the personnel of the Army, Air Force, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, the prime minister reached Leh around 9.30 am, sources said, adding that Modi was briefed by senior Army officers.

His visit comes days after a violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh on June 15, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Indian soldiers.

China too reportedly lost around 40 soldiers. However, they have not put out any official casualty figures so far.
