Over ₹255 crore spent on flights for Modi's foreign trips in last 3 years
The government has spent over ₹255 crore on chartered flights for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips in the past three years, the Rajya Sabha was told on Thursday. Since 2016, Modi has gone on 40 tours, covering over 50 countries, including the United States, Russia and China.
The government has spent over ₹255 crore on chartered flights for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips in the past three years, the Ministry of External Affairs told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday (November 21).
In a written reply, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said that in 2016-17, ₹76.27 crore was spent on chartered flights while in 2017-18, ₹99.32 crore was spent. In 2018-19, ₹79.91 crore was spent, while bill for 2019-20 has not been received, he said.
Since 2016 till the recent visit to Brazil, the prime minister has gone on 40 tours, covering over 50 countries, including the United States, Russia, China, Japan, Israel and Switzerland. In 2019 alone, he has undertaken 11 foreign tours.
